Art in Other Places: The Impact of the Arts on Communities
Atlanta
What is the non-economic impact of the arts in our communities?
Free
2 hours
Everyday the arts are used to address social, economic, educational, and health related issues across the country. According to the Community Arts Network, this practice of community arts is “art that is doing important work” and is used in everything from improving student test scores to reducing prison violence and recidivism to preserving history and culture that would otherwise be lost. This “non-economic” impact of the arts cannot be measured in dollars and cents but rather in lives touched and horizons broadened.
This program will feature three organizations from Metro Atlanta that successfully use visual arts, music, and theatre to meet social service needs. The session is ideal for social service and community-based groups looking to incorporate an arts component into their programming; arts organizations looking to increase their reach into the community; and individual artists with experience or interest in working with underserved populations. We invite you to come learn from and share your experiences with others using the arts to do important work.
Presenters include:
- Art at Work
- Synchronicity Performance Group
- Fulton County Board of Education
This program is offered free of charge. Space is limited. Please arrive on time or your seat may be given away to others who are waiting to attend.
