Business Startup Resources
In order to comply with IRS regulations, private foundations primarily restrict their funding to 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations and, for the most part, do not award grants to for-profit businesses. For information on financing a business startup, we recommend the following resources.
Personal Assistance for Individuals
While a limited number of funders do award grants directly to individuals for assistance with their education or to fund artistic or research projects, foundations typically do not provide funding for personal needs, such as housing costs or medical care.
