For over seven years, Rachel worked in the Public Finance department, serving as bond counsel on tax-exempt bond financings issued by governments or for the benefit of 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporations, including hospitals, secondary schools, universities and volunteer organizations.
While in private practice, Rachel fulfilled her desire to serve others by representing grandparents seeking to adopt the grandchildren into their care through the Grandparent/Relative Caregiver Project of the Atlanta Legal Aid Society. She also participated in several pro bono projects for the Atlanta Commission on Homelessness and assisted the City of Atlanta in converting the old City Jail into the 24/7 Gateway Center for the homeless.
An Atlanta native, Rachel graduated from Davidson College in 1993 with a degree in Political Science and received her J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1997.
