Money Matters: Understanding Georgia Charter School Grants Programs

Come and learn about funding available in the state of Georgia to form charter schools, and explore local resources and training programs to enhance your skills in operating a school.

- Greater awareness of grant programs in Georgia
- Knowledge to build capacity for improvements in charter school finance in local communities throughout the state
- Greater awareness among charter leaders of the critical importance of effective finance to success and sustainability of charter schools
- Access to relevant and practical information, tools, and technical assistance resources to design, implement, and sustain financial systems and practices
Presenter: Cayanna Collier-Good, Education Program Manager, Charter Schools Division, Georgia Department of Education
Cayanna Collier-Good’s extensive career in education began when she joined Teach For America in 1999, teaching secondary and elementary English in Houston, Texas. In 2002, Mrs. Collier-Good moved to Atlanta to pursue an advanced degree in school leadership. During her matriculation with Georgia State University, Cayanna worked closely with the Metro Atlanta Beginning Teacher Support and Induction Consortium as a graduate research assistant. Fueled with a strong desire to work closely on matters of teacher development and retention, Cayanna worked as a site manager for The New Teacher Project (TNTP), a role from which she launched and managed TNTP’s Teaching for Results Content Seminar Series initiative in Atlanta.
In her current position as Education Program Manager for the Georgia Department of Education’s Charter School Division, Cayanna coordinates projects devoted to collecting and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data related to charter schools in Georgia, assisting in the publication of articles, grant preparation, analyzing state and federal statutes and regulations, coordination of the annual New Georgia Charter School Training conferences, and serving as an official representative for the Charter Schools Division on matters related to charter school grant funding.
