Our panelists will include:

Tené Traylor serves as a program officer for The Community Foundation for Greater Atlanta. She joined the team in August of 2006. Tené’s primary role is working with the Common Good Funds and managing The Neighborhood Fund. The Common Good Funds link Tené with nonprofit organizations and critical issues facing the region. Through her role with the Neighborhood Fund, a community leadership program that provides small grants, leadership development and coaching directly to residents for community-building work, Tené serves as the Foundation’s liaison for neighborhood transformation and community development. Tené’s experience includes community building, community economic development, program management and fundraising. Prior to her role at The Community Foundation, Tené worked for United Way of Metropolitan Atlanta for five years in its major gifts and community impact departments.

Maggie McElhannon, Manager of Community Relations for the Nordson Corporation, oversees foundation giving and community relations for Georgia and California. Prior to joining Nordson, she was an event planner for a children’s hospital and worked in fundraising for a billion dollar university campaign. Ms. McElhannon lived overseas in The Republic of Georgia, where she worked as an advisor to nonprofit organizations. In addition to her position at Nordson, Ms. McElhannon is a graduate student at the University of Georgia in public administration with a concentration in public policy and nonprofit management.

Catherine Covington received her B.S. in Management with a concentration in Accounting from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Upon graduation, Catherine was selected for a year-long fellowship with the Woodruff and Whitehead Foundations, where she participated with the foundations’ officers in meetings with grants applicants and site visits to organizations seeking support. After spending some time as an Audit Associate at PricewaterhouseCoopers, LLP, Catherine found her way back in the nonprofit sector as the Grants Manager at SunTrust Bank in Endowment and Foundation Services, where she is currently employed. She is responsible for all aspects of the grants management process including receipt of the grant applications, site visits, maintenance of the grants management database, preparation of board meeting materials and attendance at board meetings, processing approved and declined grant applications, etc., for a number of private foundation clients.

Also featuring two successful grantseekers:

Zenobia Bass, grants coordinator at the Atlanta Union Mission and Laura O. Moore, founder and president of Dream House for Medically Fragile Children Inc. These successful grantseekers will share personal stories of how they managed to grow through the challenging nonprofit start-up phase to become reputable nonprofit organizations with diverse funding streams.
