One in a series of events presented as part of the Foundations for Education Excellence initiative, this teleconference features a discussion about how foundations are supporting states in their efforts to apply for Race to the Top and other ARRA grant programs. Barbara Chow from the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and Lori Fey from the Michael and Susan Dell Foundation talk about the opportunities and challenges they've encountered and the strategies they've employed to forge effective partnerships with local and state-wide leaders. In addition, Jack Jennings, president and CEO of the Center on Education Policy (CEP), presents the findings of a just-released CEP report, "An Early Look at the Economic Stimulus Package and Public Schools," which addresses the status of state implementation of the main ARRA programs that affect elementary/secondary education. The discussion is moderated by An-Me Chung from the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation and includes a Q&A session with callers. This teleconference was presented in cooperation with the Committee Encouraging Corporate Philanthropy, the Council on Foundations, the Forum of Regional Associations of Grantmakers, Grantmakers for Education, and Philanthropy Roundtable.
