• Of the nearly $5 billion,94% was spent domestically
• Giving to education has more than doubled domestically since 1997 and more than quadrupled internationally
• Education received the largest share of foundation support in 2007
• Foundation support represents less than 1% of total spending on the U.S. public school system alone
