Carrick High School $15,000
for 2nd year
Support the creation and development of a school-based intergenerational community center at Carrick to provide educational, recreational, family-centered programs and community service activities.
Domestic Abuse Counseling $40,000
for 2nd year
The program adds assessment and treatment for substance abuse and child abuse for identified at-risk men who are in domestic violence groups as a result of a court order.
Early Childhood Initiative/United Way $35,000
for 3rd year
Provide quality childcare for low-income children from birth to age five as a solution to the high failure rate of these children in the school systems (and resulting problems as adults).
Family Resources $15,000
for 3rd year
Strengthen the continuum of child abuse prevention services to South Pittsburgh families, including a WARMLINE hotline, a media campaign, and an expansion of parenting classes and support groups to serve an additional 50 families, and an "instruction manual" for parents.
Health Policy Institute $3,000
for 2nd year
Partner in education for healthcare community on issues and policy challenges.
Legal Aid Society $10,000
for 3rd year
Creation of Master's program for juvenile court child abuse cases to improve case management and outcomes.
Mental Health Association $10,000
for 2nd year
Support families with special education needs through education advocacy program and peer support groups.
One Small Step $60,000
for 3rd year
Extended-day and summer program for young black males in elementary and middle school to promote school achievement.
Salvation Army $28,000
for 3rd year
Provide intensive work stabilization program for homeless substance abusers through collaboration with Goodwill and Pittsburgh Healthcare for Underserved Populations.
