Birmingham Foundation Streamlines Focus for Grants
The Birmingham Foundation remains optimistic and committed to the future of South Pittsburgh. Given current economic pressures, the Foundation will give special consideration to proposals for the November 2009 cycle that aim to preserve safety nets – food, health, shelter – for the most vulnerable and underserved populations within these three focus areas:
- Focus #1: Improving Youth Outcomes: the Foundation is especially interested in proposals for programs that instill discipline and character-building skills in South Pittsburgh’s children and young adults that can lead to self-sustainability now and throughout life and, at the same time, prevent violence to and by the youth of our communities
- Focus #2: Improving Healthcare Outcomes: the Foundation is especially interested in proposals that aim to ensure that residents of South Pittsburgh, particularly children, their parents and caretakers, have access to basic necessities essential to not only survive, but thrive, including good food and nutrition, reliable shelter and quality healthcare
- Focus #3: Strategy for Neighborhood Development: the Foundation is especially interested in proposals that aim to ensure that all neighborhoods in South Pittsburgh are provided with the building blocks to become, and remain, stable, viable and safe communities for current and future generations
