BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF PATERSON

$30,000 to support a new Director position to implement the Dropout Prevention Through Targeted Outreach Program at their Paterson Club. They will recruit youth into the Club and provide them with research-based positive youth development programs, case management services and additional interest-based Club activities. The goal of the project is to prevent dropouts, encourage dropouts to return to school, deter involvement with the criminal justice system and help youth become successful citizens.

BOYS AND GIRLS CLUB OF UNION
Union, NJ
$35,000 to support a new Latino Outreach Director position at their Elizabeth Club to implement the Latino Outreach Initiative, which will provide a much needed foundation of bilingual programs and services to the Latino community. While the community is over 50 percent Latino, Latino youth represent less than 5 percent of the Club membership. The Director will train and supervise staff and promote the Club at community functions targeting Latinos in an effort to attract Latino youth to the Club and create new opportunities for this underserved group.

CENTER FOR ALTERNATIVE SENTENCING AND EMPLOYMENT SERVICES ("CASES")
New York, NY
$25,000 to provide support for the expansion of their employment services for court-involved youth in the Court Employment Project ("CEP"). The grant helps support a recently hired Employment Resource Specialist who is establishing employment skills-based classes, one-on-one employment counseling, education and job fairs, and a job training and placement service. Education and employment services are central to their work with court-involved youth to reduce recidivism and to help the youth secure employment and make a successful transition to adulthood.

CENTER FOR URBAN COMMUNITY SERVICES ("CUCS")
New York, NY
$25,000 for developing a curriculum and toolkit, delivering training, and making individualized, customized support available to a minimum of ten agencies so they can successfully implement Supported Employment in supportive housing. This is an evidence-based practice for assisting people with mental illness in obtaining and maintaining competitive employment. Effective implementation requires extensive staff training, follow-up and in some cases, customized technical assistance.

EXALT YOUTH
Brooklyn, NY
$25,000 to support the expansion of their External Partner & Graduate Liaison position to a full time role which is critical to their next phase of growth. The position was developed to increase their ability to stay connected to program graduates and more effectively help them reach their stated long-term personal, educational and employment goals. Exalt provides a comprehensive internship program linking education, mentorship and meaningful employment for youth, ages 15-20, along the spectrum of criminal justice involvement.

FAMILY AND CHILDREN'S SERVICES
Elizabeth, NJ
$35,000 to support the At Risk Youth Counseling Services Program which will serve 15-20 youth between the ages of 9-14 years who are at-risk of entering the juvenile justice system and their families. Services will include individual and family therapy to resolve communication, relationship, conflict and anger issues, and case management to identify and link youth and their families to additional community resources. Youth served reside in Union County, New Jersey.

GODDARD RIVERSIDE COMMUNITY CENTER
New York, NY
$45,000 for renewed salary support for the Associate Director of Operations position, part of a comprehensive executive management team restructuring designed to enhance their capacity to manage program delivery, improve strategic use of resources, and strengthen administrative functions. Goddard Riverside is a multi-service, community-based agency that assists 17,500 individuals each year through more than 20 programs located on the Upper West Side of Manhattan and in Harlem.

GOOD SHEPHERD SERVICES
New York, NY
$75,000, the final installment of a $250,000 grant payable over 3 years, in support of an Endowment Campaign to augment their endowment by an additional $10 million. They have experienced extraordinary growth over the past several years, and the increased endowment is an important part of their plan to ensure that they have adequate resources to sustain their ongoing and exemplary work in youth development, education and family services.

HENRY STREET SETTLEMENT
New York, NY
$30,000 to provide salary support for the Human Resources Manager position. In addition to the core personnel services such as hiring, benefits administration, employee orientation and trainings, and compliance with regulations, the HR Manager will work on improvements to performance evaluations and a new employee recognition system. The HR department handles the complex needs of their close to 1000 full- and part-time employees and thus enhances their staff's capacity to perform their jobs and better serve their 60,000 clients each year.

THE HUDSON GUILD
New York, NY
$40,000 to support a Social Worker position to address the complex behavioral and mental health issues facing youth and their parents in their School Bridge after school program serving 160 children in grades K-5. Many of these youth face significant risk factors which impact their ability to focus on program activities. The addition of a social worker to deal with the social and emotional issues of the youth as well as limit risk factors they face at home through a family-centered approach will allow the program to focus on its mission of improving the academic success of the youth.

LAWYERS ALLIANCE FOR NEW YORK
New York, NY
$40,000 to provide support for the Program Preservation Initiative which provides critical legal services to enable New York City nonprofits to cope with the current economic downturn. They advise nonprofit leaders and Board Members, as well as the pro bono attorneys advising these organizations, on strategies to preserve essential community programs, ensure service continuity, and manage agency risk related to anticipated cuts in government budgets and decreased philanthropic support, both in the near-term and in the years ahead.

LENOX HILL NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSE
New York, NY
$40,000 for the enhancement of the Child Abuse and Maltreatment Prevention and Intervention Project which works to benefit children (ages 3-13) and their families through an interdisciplinary team of professionals. They will enhance mental health offerings including: increased clinical work in their eight early childhood classrooms and with their at-risk families; a new socialization group to target their isolated children; and three new parenting support groups to target the specific needs of their at-risk parents and caregivers. Their work with these at-risk families has helped them improve their lives and avoid child abuse and maltreatment.

NEW SETTLEMENT APARTMENTS
Bronx, NY
$25,000 to support a Youth Advisor for the Young Adult Outreach Initiative. The program provides positive intervention services for 260 young adults aged 16-21 who are not in school and not employed, and are at high risk of involvement in the juvenile or criminal justice system. They work intensively with the teens so that they resume their education, enter college and/or get paid employment. The Youth Advisor will enable them to enhance counseling and support services for the participants.

OPPORTUNITIES FOR A BETTER TOMORROW ("OBT")
Brooklyn, NY
$35,000 for a new Workforce Recource Center in Bushwick to better serve this high-needs community in Brooklyn. The grant supports a Vocational Counselor Position responsible for assessing the clients' needs and providing them with custom-designed vocational and educational plans. OBT is a comprehensive job-training program serving low-income neighborhoods in Brooklyn through academic, vocational and social-skills training for young people and adults, helping them to become financially self-sufficient.

PRO BONO PARTNERSHIP
White Plains, NY/Parsippany, NJ
$30,000 to provide legal services to youth-serving agencies in Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic and Union Counties in New Jersey, building on the relationships that they developed with umbrella groups last year which constituted their main strategy for outreach to nonprofits. They will offer a new series of teleconferences to help solidify these partnerships, reinforce the Partnership's availability as a legal resource to their constituents, and provide important information to nonprofits about legal issues affecting youth-serving organizations. The Pro Bono Partnership provides pro bono, legal technical assistance to nonprofit organizations.

SAFE SPACE NYC
New York, NY
$30,000 to support the Youth Specialist position for the new Far Rockaway Drop-In Center for Youth in Queens. Their young adult services programming creates a safe environment where youth can access an array of services ranging from employment and financial literacy trainings to intensive case management services. They will target 1,000 unduplicated youth in Far Rockaway through outreach, case management, education and employment training, independent life skills, and support services programming. They will tailor their response to each young person based on his or her strengths and needs.

SUPPORTIVE HOUSING NETWORK OF NEW YORK ("SHNNY")
New York, NY
$25,000 to fund the second year of their Housing Homeless Youth and Families Project, a part of the NY/NY III Implementation Initiative. The grant supports the targeted public education, training and technical assistance components of the project, working with both providers and government agencies to promote the development of new youth and family supportive housing. SHNNY will continue to provide agencies involved in the initiative with trainings, workshops, best practices education and mentoring to ensure that they are equipped to meet the unique needs of these groups.

UNITED NEIGHBORHOOD HOUSES OF NEW YORK ("UNH")
New York, NY
$25,000 to support the Director of Development position to help UNH implement additional strategies in its development plan. The Director is responsible for the individual gifts program, overseeing special events, developing the fundraising capacity of the Board, and integrating fundraising and external communications strategies and materials. UNH is the membership organization for 36 settlement houses and community centers in NYC, working at 400 sites and serving more than a half million New Yorkers.

VOLUNTEER CENTER OF BERGEN COUNTY

$20,000 to help support a part-time Web Content Coordinator position for their new Technology Project. The Coordinator will coordinate the maintenance of content on their website, their blog, various social networking sites, and other web-related activities, ensuring that their message and branding are consistent across all platforms. The objective is to develop and maintain a cohesive and relevant presence in the online marketplace, allowing people who want to volunteer or learn about their work to easily find and share information.

VOLUNTEER CONSULTING GROUP ("VCG")
New York, NY
$30,000 to support the continuing transition from founder to new leadership, as well as the integration of Governance Matters, its programs and volunteers, into VCG's operations. This integration will create a premier provider of nonprofit governance services including consulting, custom recruiting and placement, on-line recruitment and placement, and information resources. The websites, financial systems and governance of the two organizations will be examined with an emphasis on capitalizing on strengths, eliminating overlap and ensuring the optimal utilization of available skills. The goal is for constituents to see the seamless transfer of vital services to the combined entity.
