2010 Grant for Palliative Care
National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC) funded through Mount Sinai School of Medicine: Brookdale Department of Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine, New York, NY
In 2005, the Kornfeld Foundation awarded a seven-year grant to Mount Sinai School of Medicine (MSSM) to establish a National Palliative Care Research Center (NPCRC). After an 18-month planning period (2005-2006), the NPCRC became fully operational in 2007. The mission of the NPCRC is to provide evidence-based research directed at improving care for seriously ill patients and their families. The NPCRC is open to researchers nationwide, coordinates multi-site research trials, provides funding for research projects, provides career development awards to junior investigators, and hosts the Annual Kathleen M. Foley Palliative Care Retreat. Four quarterly installments of seven-year, $3,025,000 grant.
