FAQs for Grantmakers

Where should I refer scholarship seekers?

People seeking help with funding for higher education should first contact the financial aid office at the college or university they plan to attend. Use FinAid's directory of Financial Aid Offices.

Foundation Center library collections are devoted to information about foundations and corporate grantmakers and their grants. Every Foundation Center library has a collection of print and electronic materials of interest to individuals seeking scholarships or fellowships.

You may wish to refer applicants to our Knowledge Base articles for scholarship seekers for further information and additional resources:
»Resources for Individual Grantseekers: Students.

You may also wish to inform applicants about our online database, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online. Applicants are able to search through a comprehensive database of grantmaker programs that fund a wide range of educational needs, including: undergraduate and graduate scholarships and loans, fellowships, internships, grants for postgraduate and postdoctoral research, travel grants, awards, prizes, and grants by nomination.

Foundation Grants to Individuals is available to the public at our libraries in Atlanta, Cleveland, New York, San Francisco, and Washington, DC, and at more than 450 Cooperating Collections in the United States and in other countries around the world.
