Foundation Center Elects Patrick Collins to Board of Trustees

New York, NY — July 27, 2009. The Foundation Center, the nation's leading authority on organized philanthropy, has elected Patrick Collins to its board of trustees. Mr. Collins is the chief information officer and director of grants administration at the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation. He also manages the foundation's videoconferencing grants program, which aims to reduce travel for foundation employees and grantees, and a small portfolio of other grants that pertain to information technology.

Before joining the Hewlett Foundation in 2005, Mr. Collins was the director of information and communication services at the University of California Office of the President. Earlier in his career, he directed two academic data centers — the California Census Research Data Center at UCLA and UC Berkeley, and the National Data Archive on Child Abuse and Neglect at Cornell University. Mr. Collins serves on the board of directors of the Nonprofit Technology Network (NTEN) and on advisory committees for TechSoup, GuideStar, and the Council on Foundations.

"The Foundation Center is fortunate to have attracted someone with Patrick Collins' background and expertise to advise us, particularly at a time when we are doing more than ever to make data and information more accessible through technological innovation," said Bradford K. Smith, president of the Foundation Center. "We are very pleased to welcome him to the Center's board."
