The Foundation Center Elects
Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker to its Board of Trustees
New York, NY — December 2, 2010. The Foundation Center, the leading source of information about philanthropy worldwide, elected Clotilde Perez-Bode Dedecker to its board at a meeting of the trustees in November. Ms. Dedecker is president and CEO of the Community Foundation for Greater Buffalo, an organization established in 1919 to enhance and encourage long-term philanthropy in the Western New York community. Her service on the Center's board will begin in April 2011.
Ms. Dedecker has dedicated her career to improving lives through civic service. Prior to joining the Community Foundation, she worked to eliminate gender-based inequities for women as executive director of the Erie County Commission on the Status of Women. She has founded and led numerous collaborative initiatives, including the Family Justice Center of Erie County, the Western New York Women's Fund, and, most recently, the Literacy Funders Network. She is a nationally-recognized spokeswoman on a range of issues, including strategic philanthropy, community service, and cultural diversity.
"Clotilde's experience in community-based philanthropy, contributions to national and international organizations devoted to volunteer service, and strong commitment to cultural diversity and gender equity make her an ideal addition to our board," said Bradford K. Smith, president of the Foundation Center. "Her guidance will be invaluable as we expand the ways we support those working to address critical challenges both locally and globally."
Ms. Dedecker has served on many boards, including the National Women's Hall of Fame (president), Mayoral Council on Hispanic issues (chair.), the John R. Oishei Foundation, and the National Federation for Just Communities. Currently she is a national delegate to the Vision 2020-Equality in Sight project and serves on the board of CFLeads. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Canisius College and a Master's degree in Education from the State University of New York at Buffalo. Ms. Dedecker is a naturalized U.S. citizen and a native of Cuba.
