Foundation Center Launches New Subscription
Database Foundation Grants to Individuals Online

New York, N.Y., May 1, 2002—Students, researchers, artists, and other individuals seeking assistance can locate important information on foundation funding sources with the Foundation Center's new Foundation Grants to Individuals Online subscription database now available at gtionline.fdncenter.org. For only $9.95 for a one-month subscription, individuals may sign up using a credit card for immediate access to program and contact information on close to 4,800 foundations and public charities that award funds to individuals for their education (for both U.S. and international students); arts and cultural endeavors; research and professional projects; as well as a wide range of special needs including aid for the economically disadvantaged. Annual subscriptions geared towards libraries, financial aid offices, and other institutions that serve individual grantseekers are available for only $99.95.

"Foundation Grants to Individuals Online is a unique resource for individual grantseekers," explained Joyce Infante, the Center's Vice President for Marketing and Product Development. "It is the only online service devoted exclusively to foundations and public charities that offer a wide array of financial support directly to the individual. While it's common to find search services that cover funding from government sources and student aid offered by colleges and universities, no other Web-based search tool, until now, has presented information on the thousands of foundations that offer scholarships, fellowships, internships, grants, loans, awards by nominations, project support, and funds for general welfare purposes."

Essential Data for Individual Grantseekers
Updated quarterly, foundation records includes information that individual grantseekers need most when drawing up a list of potential funding sources:

Program Policies—descriptions of the foundation's program(s) and the terms and conditions of grants, fellowships and other awards.
Contact and Application Information—the foundation's name, correct address and telephone number, name of the contact person, deadline dates, and application details.
Financial Data—foundation's asset amount and expenditures, and in most cases, amount and number of grants awarded, as well as dollar amounts for high, low, and median grants.

To provide more details and updated information, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online includes links to more than 500 foundations with Web sites.

Choose from Nine Search Fields
Subscribers may select multiple criteria and generate lists of potential funders within seconds, choosing from up to nine search fields:
- foundation name - fields of interest - school name
- foundation state - types of support- company name
- foundation city - geographic focus - text search

Value-added Features!
Although easy to use, Foundation Grants to Individuals Online includes a number of User Aids to further assist individuals seeking funds. Subscribers have access to "Daily Search Tips," which include time-saving strategies and helpful hints for maximizing their search results. Plus, quick links to free Web resources for individuals provide vital information for grantseekers. Moreover, an Online Help file that features in-depth instructions and search tutorials, helps grantseekers get the most from their research efforts.
