Foundation Center Releases Guide to Greater Washington D.C. Grantmakers on CD-ROM, Version 2.0!

Grantseekers in the D.C. area can rely on the latest release of the Guide to Greater Washington D.C. Grantmakers on CD-ROM, Version 2.0, an electronic resource designed for their specific funding research needs. This new release, which updates the previous version of the CD-ROM, was released in June by the Foundation Center, the nation's premier source of information on foundation and corporate giving. Compiled with the assistance of Washington Grantmakers, a network of funders, partnering with nonprofits and governments in the capital region, this comprehensive CD-ROM features funders that dispense millions of dollars each year, as well as smaller institutions that limit their giving to the D.C. area.

"We're very excited about making this completely updated resource available for the D.C. area nonprofit community," said Margie Feczko, the Center's senior database editor, who manages the product. "The combination of authoritative information and the high-speed search capabilities of the CD-ROM helps grantseekers target appropriate funding sources while saving them research time. The participation of Washington Grantmakers adds a unique local perspective on the dynamics of D.C. area grantmaking."

The CD-ROM's powerful search engine allows users to quickly explore over 2,000 grantmakers that provide funding support in their geographic area. This includes 800 funders that are located outside of the D.C. region, representing more than 39 states. Approximately 10,600 selected grants are included to indicate giving interests and priorities. The disk also features a searchable index of 8,000+ trustees, officers, and donors and their grantmaker affiliations. Users can link to 270 grantmaker Web sites and an exclusive Web page with resources of value to local grantseekers. Other value-added tools include flexible printing and saving options, the ability to mark records, an extensive Help file, and a printed user guide.

The Guide to Greater Washington D.C. Grantmakers on CD-ROM, Version 2.0 allows users to create customized prospect lists by selecting from 12 search fields:

Grantmaker Name    Types of Support    Total Giving
Grantmaker State    Trustees, Officers, and Donors    Total Assets
Grantmaker City    Geographic Focus    Establishment Date
Fields of Interest    Grantmaker Type    Text Search

CD-ROM Facilitates Efficient, Effective Fundraising

With in-depth coverage of D.C.-area grantmakers, the Guide to Greater Washington D.C. Grantmakers on CD-ROM, Version 2.0 is an essential resource that will help nonprofit fundraisers:

Find facts on a diverse range of grantmakers—This CD-ROM provides fundraisers with up-to-date information on foundations, corporate giving programs, and grantmaking public charities. Because it collects data on all these types of grantmaking institutions, it's the definitive research tool for fundraising in the D.C. area. Grantmaker records feature crucial information: address, phone number, contact name, financial data, giving limitations, and names of key officials. For the large foundations - those that give at least $50,000 in grants per year - the volume provides even more data, including application procedures and giving interest statements.

Match giving interests to grant needs—Designed to facilitate fundraising research in many different areas-including arts and culture, higher education, health, community development, and more, the CD-ROM's Fields of Interest index will help grantseekers find foundations that support their specific area of activity.

Access the names of key players in the D.C. grantmaking world—Fundraisers gain instant access to the names of the trustees, officers, and donors who lead the grantmaking institutions they plan to approach for funds. Grantseekers can also quickly track the grantmaker affiliations of their own organization's donors, board members, and volunteers.
