Foundation Center Hosts Fifth
Funding for Arts Month in October
Free Programs and Services for Artists, Nonprofit Organizations
September 18, 2006, New York, NY—A popular event in all five of the Foundation Center's locations, Funding for Arts Month returns for its fifth consecutive year. Throughout October the Center will offer a wide array of arts-related programs and online resources aimed at helping artists and nonprofit arts organizations alike become better grantseekers and increase their funding.
"Over the past four years, thousands of grantseekers have taken advantage of our Funding for Arts Month programming and resources, and the demand continues," said Judith Margolin, vice president at the Foundation Center. "We are constantly striving to find new ways to educate and inform grantseekers in the arts, and this year's roster of classes and events bears that out."
Special programs in the Center's five regional centers will address such topics as the economic impact of the arts, funding for arts education in public schools, harnessing the power of online social networking services, and technical assistance and fundraising strategies for individual artists.
New at the Center's web site this year is "Individual Giving in Support of the Arts," a resource list of selected books, articles, and web sites on a sometimes elusive source of support. Philanthropy News Digest will release a special issue on arts-related news and commentaries and will feature Newsmakers Interviews with leaders in arts philanthropy.
Throughout October, the Center will offer free shipping on orders of its new 15th edition of Foundation Grants to Individuals.
