PowerUP Announces Partnership with Time Warner Cable

PowerUP, a national organization dedicated to preparing America's youth for success in the digital age, has announced a new partnership with Time Warner Cable, one of the nation's leading cable and high speed online service providers.

Time Warner Cable will provide connectivity to at least one PowerUP site within each of Time Warner Cable's 40 divisions around the country and will serve a minimum of 10 computers at each designated PowerUP site. Connectivity will include a cable drop, a high-speed cable modem, and Road Runner service. The new partnership is one of many efforts currently underway at PowerUP to provide connectivity options to hundreds of youth-serving organizations and community and education-based locations nationwide in an effort to bridge the divide between those young people who have ready access to technology and those who do not.

"PowerUP is on the leading edge of providing tangible solutions to bridge the digital divide among underserved young people," said Rae Grad, CEO of PowerUP. "We welcome Time Warner Cable to our rapidly expanding 'Power Pack' of resources which will be available in 250 locations by year's end to prepare young people for success in the digital age."

Time Warner Cable's addition to the "Power Pack" expands PowerUP's existing resources, which include Gateway computer systems from the Waitt Family Foundation, Hewlett Packard printers, and Cisco networking equipment. PowerUP also supplies grant funds for Internet access, electrical and data cable wiring, network equipment, furniture, carpet, paint, and lab supplies.
