PND Connections - BenefitsCheckUp.org
Millions of older adults are eligible for benefits from a wide array of public programs, but many do not receive help because they either do not know about available assistance or how to apply for it. To address the problem, the National Council on the Aging has developed BenefitsCheckUp.org to help seniors find programs that may pay for some of their costs associated with prescription drugs, health care, utilities, and other essential items or services. Seniors or their family members can go to the Web site to answer questions about their age, income, previous employment, medical history, and financial status, and then receive contact information for programs that may be able to provide assistance. Sponsors of BenefitsCheckUp.org include the Commonwealth Fund, the Archstone Foundation, AARP, and the U.S. Department of Commerce.
