PND Connections - Food Security Institute Online Resource Guide
The Food Security Institute, a program of the Center on Hunger and Poverty at Brandeis University, has added two bibliographies to its collection of recent studies on food insecurity and hunger. Impact of Domestic Hunger and Food Insecurity on Health and Development (7 pages, HTML) highlights nearly sixty articles, reports, and other publications from the past decade that provide, among other things, direct evidence linking food insecurity to health and behavioral problems. Impact of Federal Food and Nutrition Programs (5 pages, HTML) includes annotated links to more than thirty articles on a range of topics, including food assistance programs (general); the food stamp program; school meal programs; and women, infants, and children. In addition to these new resources, the FSI site also offers extensive listings of national, state, and local studies that measure the extent and severity of hunger and food insecurity in the U.S. and Canada.
