After-School Data: What Cities Need to Know

After-School Data: What Cities Need to Know Collecting, mapping, and analyzing data effectively can help out-of-school-time programs maximize their impact and lead to better policy decisions, a series of tip sheets from the Wallace Foundation argues. After-School Data: What Cities Need to Know (40 pages total, PDF) includes individual guides on using data to improve accountability, mapping gaps in program supply and demand, evaluating programs, and supporting advocacy work, as well as data-sharing strategies. The publications also suggest that as more communities strive to coordinate the efforts of program providers, schools, government youth agencies, funders, and other stakeholders, it is essential to know what information is needed; how it should be collected, used, and shared; and with whom.
