Teach For America - Director, Strategy
Teach For America's Human Assets team fuels the growth and success of the organization through attracting, engaging, developing, and retaining the extraordinary, diverse talent we need to achieve our ambitious mission. Within the broader Human Assets team, the Strategy team supports these efforts by serving as strategic partners and thought leaders on key human capital issues facing Teach For America. Employing a management consulting approach, we conduct rigorous research and analysis to help the Executive Vice President of People, Community, & Diversity, members of her management team, and senior leaders across the organization make smart decisions regarding Teach For America's human capital.
Our director of strategy will report to the managing director of strategy and work closely with him and other team members on high-impact projects covering a wide variety of issues.
Responsibilities
Our director of strategy will lead and/or collaborate on multiple projects concurrently, depending on their intensity and duration. Responsibilities will vary by project, but will typically include:

Collaborating with the managing director of strategy to structure the problem/opportunity and develop a project plan.

Designing and conducting primary and/or secondary research and data collection.

Leading analyses to generate insightful conclusions and recommendations.

Authoring and delivering compelling presentations to our clients and stakeholders.
Project work will vary significantly, aligning with priority human capital challenges facing the organization. Some current/previous projects include:

Determining the optimal team structure for Human Assets and its subteams to ensure that we are well-positioned to support the talent needs of our evolving organization.

Analyzing how best to design and deliver robust learning & development resources to our growing staff.

Investigating the cultural and structural changes needed to radically accelerate the pace of innovation across the organization.

Collaborated with our President to develop, articulate, and syndicate Teach For America's compensation philosophy; currently working to reengineer our compensation structure and approach so we can faithfully execute against the philosophy as the organization continues to scale rapidly.

Partnered with Teach For America's general counsel and various members of the Human Assets team to create the strategy and implementation plan for a critical compliance initiative.

Reengineered various HR systems and processes to create efficiencies and improve the accuracy of data in our systems.
Candidate Profile and Experience Prerequisites
-
Bachelor's degree
-
At least 4-6 years professional work experience
-
Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills
-
Experience in management consulting or a corporate strategy group; the ideal candidate will have 4-6 years experience at a top consulting firm, or 3-5 years of consulting plus a MBA.
