The Director of Development position develops and manages relationships with key alumni, friends, faculty and staff to increase the College's endowment and financial resources. The position develops and implements strategies to support the College's mission and current priorities. The Director identifies, cultivates, and stewards prospective donors, and oversees all aspects of Heinz College fundraising activities, including the annual fund and the capital campaign. The position coordinates activities with University Advancement.
Qualifications:
Minimum:

Education: Master's degree or equivalent in education and experience.

Licenses: Valid State Driver's license. Must successfully complete a driver's license verification on an annual basis and successfully complete the National Safety Council's Defensive Driving training program once every three years.

Experience: Five or more years of development, fundraising and/or corporate giving experience.

Skills: Broad knowledge of the principles of individual fundraising including an understanding and support of the annual giving program; excellent oral, written and interpersonal skills; ability to collaborate with colleagues in a team environment; demonstrated knowledge of tax laws that impact charitable giving, personal assets and estates. Broad knowledge of the university infrastructure - especially the University Advancement department; ability to present information in a compelling manner.

Physical Mobility: Normally sedentary with some mobility. Domestic and international travel may be required.

Environmental Conditions: Work usually performed in a typical office setting; travel to various locations required.

Mental: Must be able to work under pressure, meet inflexible deadlines, set priorities, and deal diplomatically with difficult individuals.

Other: Weekend and evening hours required.
Preferred:

Experience: Eight years of development, fundraising, and/or corporate giving experience, preferably in higher education.
