Job Responsibilities
Business Development:
- Works with senior staff to establish development goals and is accountable for these goals
- Establish a business plan and marketing strategy to achieve development goals
- Execute strategy to meet annual development goals through multiple revenue channels including new fund/donor acquisition, existing fund/donor renewal, and philanthropic advisory services
- Identify, cultivate, and support potential referral networks
- Prospect for and qualify new business opportunities
- Provide weekly forecasts of business opportunities
- Attain business development goals
Communications:
- Assist in the design and execution of communications strategies to increase awareness of CAFAmerica source offerings and elevate organizations position as a thought leader in global grantmaking
- Maintain and develop CAFAmerica’s image and reputation; protect and develop the organization's brand via suitable PR activities within the marketplace
- Identify client interaction process improvements to ensure effective and efficient communication with clients and associates
- Assures quality of communications with detailed editing
General Administration:
- Assist in implementation and management of department.
- Develop new and maintain existing client relationships
- Focuses on long-range strategic priorities
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail, with ability to synthesize, analyze, critique, and offer recommendations
- Basic understanding of profitability modeling
- Capable of handling proprietary information and working with sensitive material
- Assist in production of appeals including direct mail, Internet, email and social media to appropriately targeted lists
- Assist in the creation of budget for development activities
- Provide ongoing progress reports to Senior Staff and Board of Directors (as needed)
Qualifications:
- Bachelor degree preferred
- 5+ years of successful sales and/or delivery experience with a demonstrated, consistent record of positive achievement
- Experience in driving multiple, complex, technical efforts (delivery, sales, and/or operations)
- Must possess exec presence, emotional intelligence, polish, & excellent communications skills (written & verbal)
- Must be self-directed, disciplined, detail-oriented, & able to maintain poise/resilience during stressful situations
- Capable of multitasking with rapidly changing priorities and managing multiple tasks in a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in computer skills (Microsoft Office). Specifically Excel (moderate to advanced)
- Proven ability to support business growth objectives
- Experience in organizing and motivating a diverse team of individuals in pursuing new business (desirable)
- Ability to travel on a regular basis
- Strategic thinking, business-oriented, results-oriented, decision maker, self- directed, self-starter, assertive, creative, strong analysis, evaluation, and planning capabilities, strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills to negotiate and obtain desired results, as well as make presentations, team player, and enthusiast. Confident and venturesome “doer" and decision maker.
- Possesses a working and effective understanding of the basics of charitable gift planning and grantmaking
- A high level of professionalism, compassion, creativity, and integrity coupled with an ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents
Responsible: The Assistant Director, Development and Philanthropy reports to the Director of Philanthropy and Communications
Salary: 34,000-41,000
