Senior Vice President of Development and Communications

END Fund
New York, New York

END Fund - Senior Vice President of Development and Communications

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Chief Executive Officer and liaises with the Board of Directors regarding fundraising opportunities.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION:

The END Fund is a private philanthropic fund with a singular focus – to reduce the burden of the most prevalent neglected tropical diseases (NTDs) among the world’s poorest and most vulnerable people. Currently, over one billion people globally are at risk for these diseases, with a disproportionate number of children affected and over 90 percent of the burden in Africa. The END Fund has a goal of treating over 50 million people over the next five years for NTDs. The END Fund accomplishes this by:

  • Mobilizing and directing resources to where they can have maximum impact;
  • Advocating for innovative, integrated and cost-effective NTD programs; and
  • Facilitating private sector engagement in the movement to address the devastating effects of NTDs.

The END Fund grew out of an impassioned initiative led by the Legatum Foundation and Geneva Global in 2007 that created a groundbreaking, integrated, multi-year NTD treatment program in Rwanda and Burundi. Building upon this successful venture, the END Fund was created in 2011 to bring these programs to scale and reach other at-risk populations in sub-Saharan Africa.

In its short existence, the END Fund has attracted leading funders including the Gates Foundation, the Campbell Family Foundation, Dubai Cares, the Legatum Foundation and other high-profile corporate, individual and foundation funders. To date, the END Fund and its partners have treated over 10 million people, delivering over 50 million treatments. The END Fund has a special emphasis on sub-Saharan Africa and has grown to support NTD programs in ten countries in this region: Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, Kenya, Mali, Liberia, Mali, Namibia, Rwanda, and Zimbabwe.

In April 2012, Ellen Agler took the helm as the first Chief Executive Officer of the END Fund. Ms. Agler is a recognized and respected leader and advocate for global health policy and programming. With the full support of the Board, partners and funders, Ms. Agler is poised to move the organization into its next phase, actively expanding its reach in New York City and beyond with a community of visionary and engaged philanthropists, foundations and corporations committed to ushering in a healthier and more prosperous future for Africa.
