Director of Community Engagement and Organizing

The Working Group's Not In Our Town Project seeks a Director of Community Engagement to join our leadership Team. Not In Our Town combines public media programming, online resources and engagement with on the ground action and organizing in local communities and schools. Our PBS programs and social media resources present stories about community response to hate and innovative examples of diverse groups of people working together for safe, respectful and inclusive communities for all.

Responsibilities

• Implementation and development of NIOT engagement strategy.
• Advise and connect communities seeking to prevent hate crimes and foster inclusion.
• Ongoing communication with NIOT groups to keep them informed and engaged.
• Develop online and mobile interactive material.
• Work with public media outlets to promote/distribute NIOT content.
• Work with law enforcement officers on community engagement and hate crime prevention.
• Write regular updates about community activities for niot.org.
• Schedule and host community screenings.
• Present NIOT model/stories at community and national conferences.
• Collect and analyze feedback on NIOT materials and programs.
• Work hours include occasional evenings, weekends and travel.

Qualifications

• Five years of leadership in community engagement/organizing.
• Dedicated, and motivated, with a passion for outreach, engagement, dialogue, and social justice.
• Outstanding writing and presentation skills.
• Good customer-relations skills.
• Experience using social media.
• Experience with public media helpful.
• Fluency in Spanish a plus.
• 15-20% Travel required.

Position located in SF Bay Area office.
