International Organization for Adolescents - Project Director

The International Organization for Adolescents (IOFA) is seeking a Project Director to manage its new project Childright: Building Child Welfare Response to Child Trafficking in New York. This project is part of the Safe Harbor Program of the New York State Office of Children and Family Services (OCFS). This project is a pilot project.

The goals of this project include: 1) Training direct social service providers in the target area to understand the unique needs of child victims of human trafficking and have the skills and tools necessary to ensure that child victims are properly identified, referred and/or receive the appropriate specialized services to which they are entitled under Federal and State law; 2) Training staff of organizations/agencies in target are that are highly likely to encounter potentially trafficked minors to identify and appropriately refer for specialized services minor victims of trafficking. 3) Providing follow up technical assistance for training participants regarding proper identification and referral of minor trafficking victims in four counties in NYS. 4) Developing a preliminary blueprint for an “OCFS Operational Framework for Addressing Child Trafficking in New York State”; and 5) Documenting the impact of the training and assess the number of tra fficked minors previously seen by training participants.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for overall coordination and delivery of trainings in five counties of New York State (Counties of Erie, Onondaga, Monroe, Westchester, and Boroughs of Bronx, Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens, & Staten Island). Includes planning, managing participant recruitment, coordinating training team, and follow up.
  • Lead process to customize IOFA training materials for NYS and OCFS context
  • Respond to technical assistance calls from training participants.
  • Serve as the community liaison between IOFA and participating organizations.
  • Work with CHRC to conduct pre/post test evaluations and assessment report.
  • Attend Blueprint meetings.
  • .Co-facilitate Blueprint sub-committee meetings.
  • Convene project steering committee, develop agenda for steering committee in partnership with the Executive Director, monitor progress, and follow up, etc.

Job Qualifications

Advanced degree in social work, public health, law or equivalent experience. The ideal applicant will be knowledgeable about the New York State child welfare system and have experience working to address human trafficking from a human rights perspective. Candidate should possess strong communication and public speaking skills and be highly organized. Prior experience as a trainer and/or facilitator is a must. Additionally, candidates must be able a proven leader and have the ability to work independently.
