Director of Grant and Proposal Development

The Cleveland Museum of Art’s Development department seeks qualified candidates for its Director of Grant and Proposal Development. The Director provides direction for all private/public grant and individual proposal development to acquire principal gift support for the stated operating, capital, endowment, and program-related priorities of CMA. In this role the Director researches and prepares applications/required submittals and principal gift proposals to attract direct contributions to the museum; leads the effort to effectively coordinate activities among various museum staff members in the development of individual donor and grant proposals, from initial development and preparation through final response from the donor or grant maker with subsequent evaluation and continuation submissions. He/she also identifies, cultivates and manages relationships of a targeted group of local and national foundations, as well as government entities as required. He/she maintains a dynamic portfolio of active foundation/government prospects, developing/managing those prospects through cultivation, solicitation and stewardship to achieve stated financial attainment and individual activity goals is also a focus of this position.

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; with a minimum of five to seven years successful fundraising experience. A Master’s degree preferred. Proven success in securing complex foundation and government grants at the highest level is a must.
