Your Job

We are looking for a highly-motivated instructor to support a pilot program, SamaUSA, in San Francisco’s Bayview-Hunter’s Point community. SamaUSA is an innovative training program that helps low-income community college students find and succeed in online work. The instructor is responsible for teaching and supporting the blended curriculum and supporting student learning outcomes. Ideal candidates will have experience teaching in job training or vocational programs in low-income diverse communities. Reporting to the Director of SamaUSA, you will be an integral part of our team, responsible for helping Samasource to start our first US-based program.

Your Responsibilities

• Plan, prepare and deliver instruction that facilitates student learning and skill development
• Manage technology in the classroom to maximize student access and learning
• Assist students and supervise use of instructional technology and completion of online learning modules
• Create and follow meaningful learning objectives and maintain accurate records of student progress
• Contribute to curriculum design and development
• Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
• Counsel and provide encouragement to students about academic or online work challenges
• Post and maintain lab hours to support current and former students in computer lab
• Participate in student recruitment and selection efforts
• Collect and maintain data on current and former students, create reports and updates as needed
• Foster a positive and welcoming learning environment
• Contribute to creating best practices to ensure student retention and success
• Provide ongoing feedback and revisions on curriculum

Requirements

• Must have worked in the Bayview-Hunters Point community before
• Must be familiar with the needs and resources of the community
• BA/BS from a top-tier university
• 2+ years teaching with job training or vocational training programs
• Demonstrated awareness of and competence in working with a diverse student population
• Experience with eLearning, computer enhanced teaching, blended learning approaches
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems
• Passionate about empowering students through education and possess an unshakable belief in their potential
• Superlative interpersonal skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Flexible and adaptable
• Comfortable working for a pilot program with lots of experimentation
• At home in a fast-paced environment with a high level of ambiguity
• Must be eligible to work in the U.S.
