Public Relations and Marketing Director

Forestdale is a nonprofit that provides innovative social services to parents and children in inner-city communities, primarily in the borough of Queens. Our programs include foster care, preventive services, support for parenting teens, and a fathering initiative. Founded in 1854, Forestdale now touches the lives of thousands of children and families every year.

This is a unique and exciting opportunity for a public relations professional with experience in fundraising to promote a dynamic organization. The Director is supported by a staff of three development associates who write grants, maintain the website and build innovative social media platforms. S/he will work cohesively with the Director of Community Development.

Responsibilities:

• Plan and implement a comprehensive and multi-faceted marketing plan
• Work in close cooperation with the Executive Director and the Board of Directors to generate new and increased support from public and private entities and individuals donors
• Oversee all Forestdale Social Media, including Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn
• Task supervision of Development Associates

The Public Relations and Marketing Director will report to the Executive Director and work with all staff.

Ideal candidates must possess the following:

• BA/BS degree from an accredited university
• Experience in fundraising, including annual program planning/management, successful solicitation of institutions and individuals, and work with boards of directors/trustees, major donors, and volunteers
• Superior writing and verbal skills, including public presentations
• Self-motivation
• Skills including, but not limited to fundraising, program planning and ongoing management; board committee management; prospect research; in-person cultivation and solicitation; donor stewardship; extensive writing (grants, reports, direct mail appeals, and related products); communications (including publications and web content); database management; and staff supervision
