Contact us today to learn more about our unique environment and our current opportunity for a Managing Director, Development Advancement Department.
Reporting directly to and working closely with the Assistant Dean for Institutional Advancement, the Director will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies based on the school’s Strategic Plan. In this role, you will lead the development team and be responsible for managing the law school’s relationships with its most valued supporters, and therefore ensuring these relationships are nurtured and maintained for the benefit of the school over time. This is a unique opportunity for a strategic thinker who has done it all in his/her career and is now looking for more of an administrative role to help shape and lead the development department of a smaller organization, as well as develop and manage an individual donor portfolio.
The individual we seek must apply knowledge and understanding of Hastings—the traditions, programs, campus issues, needs and priorities to the development process; be comfortable working with prominent and wealthy individuals; have a successful record of securing leadership gifts at the $50,000 level and above; and be comfortable in a constantly changing and challenging fundraising environment.
Requires a Bachelor’s degree, at least 5 years of progressively responsible experience in an established fundraising program, preferably with a higher education development office or foundation, or equivalent combination of education and experience; demonstrated ability to lead a development team; experience in strategy development and delivery of capital campaigns; and a background in identification, cultivation and solicitation of major gifts including writing gift proposals and structuring complex gifts. Strong leadership, communication, interpersonal, motivational and organizational skills are essential.
