Position Overview
The Individual Gifts Officer will work collaboratively with the Director of Development, Executive Director, and Museum staff/trustees to prospect, cultivate, solicit and steward individual donors for the Museum and to coordinate and deliver special programming for the major giving level donor groups.
Responsibilities
The Individual Gifts Officer reports to the Director of Development and will be responsible for a wide range of fundraising activities including but not limited to the following:

Cultivating and soliciting donors in the prospect pipeline; matching prospects to volunteers; preparing background information for solicitations; and following up with volunteers and senior staff through completion of assignment;

Providing staff support to major donor committees;

Maintaining an active schedule of solicitations, cultivation visits/events, and stewardship activities and tracking this activity in the donor database;

Maintaining an active schedule of prospects including strategies and schedule for moves to solicitation;

Ensuring accurate contact management and donor records are maintained in the database by development support staff;

Partnering with membership manager and committee volunteers to cultivate mid-level members for upgrades to the patron donor groups;

Organizing donor events such as annual Council of 100 Dinner and Art Pick reception; artist studio visits; art-focused trips; private collection visits and receptions in collaboration with curatorial and event staff;

Working with Full Spectrum Gala committee to collaborate on the Museum’s signature fundraising event;

Coordinating the activities of the auction committee and managing auction relationships and logistics;

Managing planned giving program and overseeing activities of the planned giving advisory committee;

Other duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:

BA degree required.

Four to seven years of experience preferred, direct solicitation experience required;

Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, challenging and rewarding environment;

Ability to strategize gift solicitations and to demonstrate a sensitivity to donor motivations;

Proven ability to work independently and to keep a number of solicitations moving simultaneously;

Ability to manage strong relationships with a variety of constituents;

Ability to function effectively as team member and a willingness to participate in activities and assignments that help meet the goals of and objectives of the department;

Strong organizational skills and proficiency with data tracking systems;

Sense of humor combined with commitment to personal responsibility
