California Community Foundation Announces $2.3 Million in Grants

The California Community Foundation has announced grants totaling more than $2.3 million to nonprofit organizations serving Los Angeles County residents.

Representing the foundation's first discretionary investments of 2013, grants were awarded to twenty-seven organizations working in a range of fields, including the arts, affordable housing, education, health care, and civic engagement. Grant recipients include Camino Nuevo Charter Academy ($125,000), the East Valley Community Health Center ($100,000), the Toberman Neighborhood Center ($75,000), L.A. Voice ($50,000), and TeAda Productions ($45,000). Special Olympics Southern California, InnerCity Struggle, the American Civil Liberties Union, and 826LA, among other others, also received grants.

"Discretionary charitable funds are a significant resource of the California Community Foundation that enables us to fulfill our mission of strengthening Los Angeles communities through effective philanthropy, civic engagement, sustaining nonprofits, and building long-term charitable assets expressly for Los Angeles," said CCF president and CEO Antonia Hernandez.
