Coca-Cola Foundation Announces $8.6 Million in Third-Quarter Grants

The Coca-Cola Foundation has announced grants totaling $8.6 million to fifty-two organizations in twenty-one countries.

Through its third grant cycle of 2012, the foundation awarded $2.6 million to organizations around the globe working to promote water stewardship; $2.5 million in support of education; $2.1 million for healthy-living programs; $625,000 in support of community recycling efforts; and $755,000 for other local priorities, including youth development, HIV/AIDS education and prevention, community improvement, and sustainability. The foundation estimates that the grants will help 15.1 million people gain access to clean water, sanitation, and improved water systems, conserving more than 238 billion liters of water; benefit 2.1 million students and 1,391 colleges and universities; provide fitness or nutrition programs to 621,000 children and adults; and engage more than 900,000 people in community recycling and education programs.

Grant recipients include the Georgia Tech Foundation ($1.13 million), the United Nations Development Programme China ($800,000), the U.S. Soccer Federation Foundation ($350,000), Keep America Beautiful ($300,000), the Foundation for the Preservation of Wildlife and Cultural Assets ($50,000); Fundacion Emprender ($40,000); and Fundación Junior Achievement Ecuador ($20,000).

"Our grants invest in the ingenuity of grassroots partners who contribute to the well-being of communities around the world," said Coca-Cola Foundation chair Ingrid Saunders Jones. "With our support, these partners work to improve the quality of life for their families, their neighbors, their cities, and their countries."
