Fry Foundation Awards More Than $1.1 Million in Second-Quarter Grants
The Chicago-based Lloyd A. Fry Foundation has announced second-quarter grants totaling more than $1.15 million.
Grants included $100,000 over two years to Year Up-Chicago for a program to train young adults for entry-level jobs; $70,000 over two years to the Merit School of Music for its Bridges: Partners in Music Program, which provides high-quality music education to more than four thousand Chicago public school students annually; $70,000 over two years to the Chicago Family Health Center in support of its medical home model of care, which provides increased access to coordinated medical and dental care for pregnant women and children; and $60,000 over two years to Albany Park Theater Project for its work with low-income public school students in the Albany Park neighborhood.
The foundation awards grants in four issue areas: arts education, education, employment, and health, with a focus on helping organizations build capacity to enhance the quality of their services and better assess the impact of their programs; develop successful program innovations that the field can learn from or adopt; and share knowledge that can help low-income communities and individuals.
