Weinberg Foundation Announces $100 Million in Grants
The Baltimore-based Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation has announced that it awarded $100 million in grants over the past year to nonprofits across the country working to help financially disadvantaged individuals.
The grants include 181 commitments totaling $10.4 million through the foundation's Maryland Small Grants Program, which was launched in December 2007 to help eligible nonprofits more easily and efficiently apply for a grant. In addition, the foundation awarded fourteen grants totaling $8.2 million to organizations in ten states with innovative, evidence-based community initiatives that help family and friends assist low- and moderate-income older adults in maintaining their independence and quality of life.
The foundation is dedicated to assisting the poor and meeting basic needs such as
shelter, health and socialization, and nutrition through operating and capital grants to direct service organizations located primarily in Maryland, Hawaii, northeastern Pennsylvania, New York, Israel, and the former Soviet Union.
The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Distributes $100 Million in Grants During Past Year.
