Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation Awards $3.3 Million in Grants
The Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation in New York City has announced research grants totaling $3.3 million to early career physician-scientists conducting patient-oriented cancer research.
Through the Clinical Investigator Award program, each of the six recipients will be awarded $450,000 over three years to support the development of his or her research program. The Clinical Investigator program is designed to help address the shortage of physicians capable of translating scientific discovery into new breakthroughs for cancer patients.
In addition, the foundation awarded continuation grants to two Damon Runyon Clinical Investigators. Each award will provide an additional two years of funding, totaling $300,000 per researcher. Continuation grants are designed to support investigators who are approaching the end of their original awards and need extra time and funding to complete a promising avenue of research or to initiate or continue a clinical trial.
