Herb Block Foundation Accepting Letters of Inquiry for Pathways Out of Poverty Grant Program
The Herb Block Foundation's Pathways Out of Poverty grant program is designed to help needy young people and adults in the Washington, D.C., region gain a quality education.
For projects serving youth, the foundation seeks proposals that focus on improving student achievement and the healthy development of young people of middle school age and above. Projects may include in-school and community-based educational programs, afterschool activities, and mentoring programs. Programs designed to increase high school graduation rates are encouraged.
For projects serving adults, the foundation seeks proposals for the provision of literacy education and GED preparation, as well as vocational training and job placement.
Applicants must be nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations located in and/or providing services in the greater Washington, D.C., region , defined as the District of Columbia, the counties of Arlington and Fairfax, and the City of Alexandria in Virginia; and Montgomery and Prince George's counties in Maryland.
One-year grants in the range of $5,000 to $25,000 will be considered.
