Golden Retriever Foundation and AKC Canine Health Foundation Announce Collaborative Cancer Grant Request for Proposals

The Golden Retriever Foundation and the AKC Canine Health Foundation have announced a request for proposals for investigator- initiated research projects in the area of canine hemangiosarcoma or lymphoma research.

The foundations are offering research funding in an effort to help achieve two critical goals: 1) identification of genomic, epigenomic, proteomic, or transcriptomic markers of disease that will aid in the early identification and/or prevention of canine cancer; and 2) identification or development of therapeutics that will significantly enhance survival and quality of life for dogs with cancer.

The initiative seeks to support integrated, multi-project research programs involving multiple, independent investigators who will share intellectual and physical resources in order to work toward a unified scientific goal. The RFP invites coordinated research programs in any of the broad areas of cancer research, including but not limited to studies of cancer biology, cancer treatment, cancer diagnosis, cancer prevention, and cancer control. Basic, translational, and clinical studies in any of these research areas will be considered responsive.

The program will provide up to $1 million to one cancer research project focusing on golden retrievers and potentially benefiting the health of all dogs.

Visit the AKC Canine Health Foundation Web site for the complete RFP and application instructions.
